A foundry hand controls a flow of liquid iron in a steel foundry of the largest steelworks of the Czech Republic Mittal Steel Ostrava June 26, 2007. Mittal, who bought the leading Czech steel producer from the government, has been turning profits but still is planning to reduce the workforce to 6,500 in 2008 from nowadays 8,600 to achieve the productivity comparable with western countries.
